Lima Hotels and Lima Accommodation
(Lima, Peru, PE)
Being the proud Peruvian capital, accommodation in the city of Lima is spread all around the city and after only Cusco, hotels here are the most expensive in the whole of Peru. Those looking for cheap lodging in Lima will find a fairly limited selection in the actual city centre, while the more appealing hotels tend to be grouped within the districts known as Barranco, Miraflores and San Isidro.
Wherever you choose to base yourselves, don't be afraid to ask whether discounts are available, especially if you are planning to stay for several days. Worth noting, hotels in Lima tend to reduce their rates during the week, with accommodation being at its very cheapest during the low season, which usually falls between December and March. Also of interest, many hotels in the city centre are hard to spot and often resemble private houses and buildings, since restrictions mean that signage is limited.

When you book, do enquire if hotels can arrange to pick you up from the city's Jorge Chávez International Airport, in the neighbouring port city of Callao, which is generally considered to be a suburb. Often even hostels and similar budget accommodation will be happy to arrange taxis, which will always be cheaper than those operating at the airport.
Cheap hotels in the heart of Lima include the very established Hotel Espana on the Azangaro, and the colonial-style Hostal Belen on the Jiron Belen. At the top end of the scale, sumptuous luxury accommodation comes in the form of the exceptional five-star Lima Sheraton, which boasts 400 guest rooms, many of which overlook the Palacio de Justicia.
Hotels in the San Isidro area of Lima do tend to target the more affluent visitors to the city, with little in the way of budget lodging, other than the Malka Youth Hostel next to the Parque Americas. In the Miraflores neighbourhood, homestays are becoming increasingly popular, although there are plenty of cheap hotels and B&Bs, together with some rather swanky hotels, such as the ultra-modern JW Marriott on the Malecon de la Reserva
Budget accommodation is also in good supply in Lima's resort area of Barranco, with the Backpackers Inn on the Mariscal Castilla being extremely notable with surfers, due to its proximity to the Pacific Ocean and the Playa Barranco beachfront.
