(Lima, Peru, PE)

Lima Weather and Climate: Beach photo taken in the Chorrillos districtThe climate of Lima is generally described as subtropical, being mild and usually pleasantly warm, and never what you could ever really call 'cold' or even 'hot'. Particularly important to visiting tourists, Lima remains very dry throughout the year, with rainy weather being virtually unheard of in this arid, desert city, meaning that umbrellas are an unnecessary item of luggage for holidaymakers.

Despite being a heavily populated city, annual rainy weather is so slight that precipitation levels for the entire year do not usually exceed 1 cm / 0.4 inches. High humidity is often experienced in Lima, with low clouds being commonplace for much of the year, particularly between May and November.

Being very much central within the region known as the Desert Coast, Lima does suffer from early morning fog from June through December, which is referred to locally in Peru as the 'garua' and often blocks the views on the South Pacific Ocean.

When it does rain in Lima, this weather is extremely short lived and rainfall comes in the form of brief, isolated showers, which often occur in the late afternoon or early evening, between June and September. Worth noting, the climate conditions within the city are often quite different to neighbouring locations, such as La Molina and the Cieneguilla region, being strongly influenced by the surrounding valleys, hills and the relative proximity of the ocean.
